From 1st-2nd August 2022, all project stakeholders in Bangladesh visited the BSBRA head office at Chattogram for the purpose of initiation of the surveys for the project and to discuss the existing issues in terms of the commercial and safety aspects of ship recycling in Bangladesh.
The meeting was presided over by the acting President of the BSBRA, Mr. Kamal Uddin. The meeting was also attended by other Executive committee members of the BSBRA and notable owners of several ship recycling yards. The meeting was a successful one since the authorization for the surveys was assured with due priority to be provided to the project members for aiding in the research work. The Project Co-lead, along with project coordinator, Research Assistants (RAs) and the Technical Support Staff (TSSs) were present in the meeting with BSBRA.
Later that day, a visit was made to the country's second HKC-compliant ship recycling facility, named S.N. Corporation. The visit was hosted by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of S.N. Corporation, Mr. Barkat Ullah. Special lunch and roundup at the newly constructed recycling facility were conducted henceforth.

The first national virtual seminar on Ship Recycling in Bangladesh From Global Perspective: Current Practices and Way Forward was successfully organized on 31st March 2022. The seminar consisted of 50+ participants from various fields connected with the ship recycling and decommissioning aspects. Stakeholders from the government agencies, safety agencies, Bangladesh Shipbreakers Association, researchers, and academicians from affiliated national and international universities and industry owners were present at the seminar. Presentations were made by resource persons and a plenary session was conducted to exchange collaboration and discussion for improving the current ship recycling in Bangladesh.
